Bear River Festival

Well, the week has gone by so fast that I didn't get to post about this sooner.  The Bear River Festival was fun, but very cold and rainy.  Since I don't have a full arsenal of cold weather water clothing yet, I passed on actually participating in the SUP race or kayak adventures and watched Erik from the sidelines compete in the water.

We camped overnight and slept snug in our tent, snuggling with Winston, as it poured rain most of the night.  I brought Winston's sweater to keep him warm at night but he ended up wearing it the whole day since it was so chilly and, it turns out, there was a costume contest as part of the pet walk.  We didn't win, but Winston looked adorable in his Christmas sweater nonetheless.

Erik ran the river in his kayak a couple of times and even though he didn't win any money, he did win a very nice lifejacket since there were so few participants this year due to the weather.  It was good to see some river friends, eat delicious festival food, and get away for the weekend.  Hopefully the weather will be better next year!

Camping next to the river.
 Ready to strut.
Blackberry funnel cake.  I couldn't get a picture of it uneaten since it looked so good and we both started stuffing out faces right away.
 Erik.
Our friend Anthony going at it on an SUP.
Part of the catch from the kid's crawdad catching contest.
 The finish.
